Critical analysis of sustainable districts

Versterbro in Copenhagen, Bed-Zed in London, Vauban in Fribourg: sustainable neighbourhoods (or eco-neighbourhoods) are in fashion. The 60 guests invited to the "Sustainable cities: from vision to action" seminar held 1-3 April this year in Copenhagen were treated to a preview of the findings of Yamina Saheb's critical study of such pilot initiatives. The author, an engineer specialising in energy questions, uses these observations to draw up a prototype of the sustainable neighbourhood – a concrete contribution to inventing tomorrow's city today.
